HARDENING
Precipitation hardening:
Hardening of a ferrous product caused by precipitation of a compound from a supersaturated solid solution.
Solution Treatment:
Heat Treatment intended to dissolve and retain in solution previously precipitated constituents.
Ageing:
Heating and soaking at one or more specified temperatures, followed by appropriate cooling.
